It was a smaller crowd for the weekend since a few of my sisters were spending the weekend with their in laws, but the small crowd ended up being perfect since we had a brand new baby with us. Thanksgiving weekend was our first big car ride/adventure with all 4 kids.
The day before we left we did our annual "Thankful" chain with the kids. Each loop has something written on it that we are thankful for. My favorite things that got written down this year on our thankful chain were Café Rio and milk. Declin lives on milk, thus the reason for why we are so thankful for it. And Café Rio is so great since it feeds our entire family on a budget and everyone is happy whenever we go there (which is pretty much weekly these days). Our kids loved making the thankful chain and even had to add a few things to it the next day.
We drove to Salt Lake Tuesday night right after McKay got off work. It took me ALL day on Tuesday between feedings to pack the car and prep the food. That by itself was a marathon of a day, and it made me a little bit nervous about what the rest of the weekend would be like.
Wednesday we baked pies, rolls, and made the food in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner. My mom is awesome and does a lot of work to make sure we have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.
Thanksgiving Day 2016 was a sweet day.
It was cold outside but we still got a morning walk in around the lake. Some years we have done a 5k race in the morning, but the walk around the lake was the right speed for us this year.
Brent and Heather and all of their kids were able to spend Thanksgiving with us too.
Dinner was at 12:30 pm and we did the traditional "say what you are Thankful for" before we ate. Declin had Chocolate milk and m&m's for his thanksgiving dinner and my other kids had ham, rolls, and corn for their meal. All great choices.... or not ;) I was just happy Declin didn't cry through the meal since that is usually what happens at dinner time at our house.
After dinner everyone (except my mom, me, and the babies) went to a local park for a Frisbee golf competition while the ones staying behind took naps. Yes a nap on Thanksgiving was heavenly. Frisbee golf has become a standard activity each time we get together with my parents so it was fitting to have a tournament on Thanksgiving day.
The rest of the day was filled with game playing and eating pie. Not sure how many games of Settlers and risk were played over Thanksgiving, but those two seemed to be the top games of the weekend.

Thanksgiving this year was so fun and I decided that it is probably my favorite holiday. I love being able to get together with family and spend time together. I also love the feeling of anticipation in the air for the Christmas season.
Friday and Saturday we spent doing a little bit of shopping (nothing too major), playing even more games, and watching The Gilmore Girls Revival. The men were nice a few times to entertain the kids while the girls watched Gilmore Girls (lucky us!).
Found the kids some matching jammies at target while we were black Friday shopping and I just couldn't resist buying them.
Saturday afternoon we had a visit from McKay's family. We met them at Chick-flia for lunch so that they could meet Miss Magnolia. It was so fun seeing them and we felt pretty special that they would make the trip to Salt Lake to see us. My kids downed about 25 chicken nuggets between the three of them while we were there! My kids are crazy!
Saturday night Addie and Jensen got to have a sleepover at Dayton's house (they even got to help them decorate their Christmas tree). So fun for them and a special break for Mckay and I. We decided since we only had the younger kids that we would go see a movie. We went and saw The Fantastic Beasts movie with my parents and Draesen and Mykelti. Declin got scared 3/4th of the way through the movie so Grandpa walked around the lobby with him until it was over.
Sunday was a special day because after WEEKS of waiting we finally got to meet our newest little nephew, Solomon. Corinne and Stu had spent Thanksgiving with Stu's family, and then they decided to bless Solomon that Sunday. I was SO excited to meet him and he is the cutest little boy! Corinne and Stu are the best parents and we are so excited for their little family. The blessing was perfect and we had a great time at their house afterwards. Having two babies in the family at the same time is SO fun! Now my kids won't be the only ones running around grandma's house anymore.
