December started off with lots of morning sickness for me and lots of work on the basement for McKay. Things started to settled down towards the middle of the month when we finally got carpet in the basement. The weekend after we got carpet was our 8th Wedding anniversary.
Celebrating 8 years: We got married on December 15, 2009. I hate to clump our anniversary post in with this post, but I am afraid if I don't it will never get documented at all.
Marriage is such a blessing to me. It is not easy, but I would say I have been very fortunate to have a loving husband who is continually trying to think about me and think of my needs. He shows his love unconditionally to me and the kids daily. Hopefully he knows how much we love him too even when we are cranky and tired! McKay is a great example to me about how to live the gospel. He is smart and hardworking. So grateful that I said yes 8 years ago! This year I feel like we really improved our "date your spouse" game and it really helped improve our marriage. We found what works well with our stage of life and I feel like we really tried to bond through our date nights and work on keeping the marriage alive. We are far from perfect, but I feel like that is an area that we improved upon this past year.
This year we decided together to not do any gifts. We felt like finishing the basement was the biggest gift that we could give each other. Our anniversary happened to be on a Friday which was perfect since McKay had the day off so we could spend the whole day together. We went to breakfast in the morning with the kids and then we had a date night that evening.
We started the evening out at the temple which was so nice. After the temple we went to one of our favorite restaurants in town, Jakers, and had a yummy dinner. I got steak which I never do, but it tasted amazing. We also shared a creme brulee which was delicious. It was late by the time we finished up with dinner so we ended up just heading home for a movie. I honestly love dates like this. Yummy food that I didn't have to cook and a relaxing movie after. It was such a nice evening. McKay, I love you and this life we have.
The rest of December was filled with Christmas prep and fun Christmas activities. Nothing major, but the kids got to see Santa several times and were excited about Christmas.
The girls got the chance to go to the festival of trees in Utah with my mom, Grandma, and sisters. We just randomly drove down to Utah one weekend and it happened to be the day everyone was going to the festival of trees. I love this tradition and was so happy to be able to be included.
McKay's work had their annual kids Christmas party. The kids receive a toy during this party so they think it is the best "party" ever. We always get a picture with Santa, and the kids always make us be in the picture with them.
We had our ward Christmas party. The kids got to see Santa again.
We had a family date to the new Orange Leaf
Took lots of pictures of Magnolia. She is SO cute!!
The boys and I did some Christmas themed activities for joy school. We made Christmas trees out of ice cream cones and practiced our alphabet with stickers.
Next up, Christmas, Jensen's birthday and New Years
