Thanksgiving this year was different then any other year that we have ever had, but it still was a VERY special day and we all had a wonderful time.
The week of Thanksgiving was a busy one for us in the basement. It was prep and paint the walls week. McKay was full time at work (his job) or working in the basement and I was full time single mom keeping the 4 little munchkins out of trouble. Adalyn was out of school for the whole week so we just tried to keep ourselves entertained. I won't lie there was a lot of movie watching going on the first couple days of the break. But it was a nice change from the usual routine.
On Wednesday I prepped food for Thanksgiving dinner and made a pie. McKay took the day off on Wednesday and rented a paint sprayer to paint the doors and baseboards in the basement.
Thursday morning we drove to Logan, UT where we got to celebrate with McKay's mom and four of his siblings and their families. Natalie and Jesse hosted all of us and that isn't easy when there are 18 young kids involved. But it worked out great because the weather was fantastic. Seriously beautiful and such a wonderful change from the bitter cold we had been having in Idaho. The kids played outside together most of the afternoon. They played soccer, tag, jumped on the trampoline, and played at the park next to their house. We had planned to go to the church gym to run around and play in, but we didn't even end up going over there with the nice weather.
The food was delicious. I always love the traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all of the sides and desserts and this year did not disappoint. And of course it was wonderful to visit with everyone and chat with all of the sister-in-laws.
Adalyn and Hartley were cute friends all day
All the women on Thanksgiving. The food was delicious thanks to us ;)
Another fun thing that happened on Thanksgiving was that Magnolia decided to start walking. Before that she had taken a few steps here and there, but while we were at their house she started practicing like crazy. She would keep getting back up after falling down and has been improving everyday since. SO fun!
After the party we headed back home to keep plugging along on the basement. Thankfully my parents joined us back at our house to help us get the project done. It was so nice to have the come and help keep the kids and I entertained while McKay and my dad painted. They stayed until Saturday afternoon and we were able to get all of the painting done. :)
We didn't do any black Friday shopping except for a little bit of window shopping for new couches. We played games, attempted to go out to eat with all the kids (we survived) and we took grandma to Kids Town with us. We love family time and are grateful to be able to spend time with them over the holidays. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
